Why this song?

For my schools christmas singalong on Friday, 6th grade had to sing to worst song called That Special Time of Year.  Ok we had a really cheesy dance to dance to it but I have never ever heard of this song in my life!!  My teacher said he has never heard of it and it is as old as him.  No one liked it.  I don't know how Mrs. Donaldson (the teacher thats pretty much incharge of 6th grade) even picked this song!  It is writtin by the Gladys.  Here is the song...

A smart way to watch

This was from a long time ago and my mom said that she would post this but since I took the picture I'm going to share it.  In October Conference this is how we would watch it.  I think it was a neat way to watch!

Its the most wonderful/worst time of the year...

If you would like to know why that is my title than here is why...

I love Decemeber!  Christmas is fun to spend time with family and friends.  I love all the Christmas songs and decorations everywhere!!  At school they don't want to teach us any thing before the break so we pretty much color and do an art project everyday that I'm not suposed to get to detailed in.  Getting presents and wraping presents and picking out presents (not buying).

The worst part is all the sicknesses.  I have a cold now.  Same with my friend.  Lots of kids of a bunch of virus'.  60 kids from 3RD grade are gone because they had stomache bug.  And also you eat lots of candy and junk food crap that you get a bleh.  The candy is a good part of Christmas just not the aftermath.

Let it Snow!

It has gotton really cold fast this year!  It snows but not all the time.  I'm hoping it snows on Chirstmas this year!  It was like 50 or 60 degrees last year and sunny so it was kind of a bummer.  Have you noticed the snow flakes on my blog?  They are really little and sometimes hard to find but you will see them every often.  It Thanksgiving today.  My family and I are going to Chuckarama cause we are kinda lazy.  That's it anyway.....

Twenty Twelve Election

It was kinda a big year for me on Election cause I get pretty much most of the stuff.   UN like the last election when I was in second grade and I wanted McCain to win because his vice president (or as what I thought helper) was a girl. 

Tuesday (Election day)
6th grade took a vote.  My class votes in percentage was 100% to 0% (Romney one) just a reminder I live in a Republican State and have a teacher who is full on Republican and told us a lot about Romney.

Wednesday (Today)
First second I walked in the fence of school grounds I heard tons about Election stuff!  It was mad people talking about Obama!  Others were about Utah and South Ogden stuff but mostly America stuff.  One kid in my class came late and his mom had to walk him in because he was so mad about Obama winning.  One kid asked him if he was mad but he said don't talk about it.

I'm not saying Obama is a terrible person.  I live in a total Republican place and that's what I'm used to.

Volleyball

This year I am playing Volleyball again.  I am a lot better and one of the older people in Volleyball.  Thursday I had a game and Gma and Gpa Smith came to watch my game.  We where surprised to see Kelley come in the second round with Nicole and Josh.  Josh kept waving at me.  We actullay one our game!  It was the first time we ever one.  We didn't even win last year!  I was excited that I had people to come see us win!  After that we went to Artic Circle for a small cone.  They have a new flavor and it's TIGERS BLOOD!!  It is super good!  You would die!  Any way thats it.  We are taking team pictures Tuesday before our game.

Quick update

I am loving school!  My teachers name is Mr. Hoff and he is really fun.  Right now we are trying to get enough money to go to the State Fair but so far we haven't made it.  I hope we do because its going to be fun.  They don't allow up on rides but we walk around look at stuff and try food.  We have a lot of fun field trips we do.  We also do this HUGE country report.  I got Thailand.  My report is the 17 of October the day before fall break.  I don't like to be the very first person but I like to get it over with it soon so I thought that would be great to have it over and enjoy Fall break.  Anyway just wanted to give a quick update and how things are going.  Oh and some of you guys think that I should switch Gpa and my moms face in a picture.  I would but I don't have any pictures.  Not one!!  Maybe one day I'll have a picture!

Bath time fun

Adam takes a bath every day and we always have to take out the soap because he will get soap in his eyes cause he likes to play with it.  Since I brush my teeth after he is out I am the one to put the soap away.  Tonight I was doing my duty and I was standing outside of the tub leaning on the wall (witch was still wet) and what to you know I slipped.  It was not one of those little oops things I pretty much did a flip in.  I landed in the tub with my my full body and clothes on and I landed on my left arm.  Sort of like when you sleep on your side.  I made a big crash and my mom asked what happened and if I was OK.  I started with that I was in the bath tub coverd in soap and water.  Then I explained the rest.  It was so funny!  I asked my dad if he heard and he said ya.  He though I just fell on my side or something and he laughed like I was.  AhHahaha crash ah was what I sounded like.  I still thing its a little weird for falling in bath tub and yet, funny! 

My Bag

I have not bloged for a while as you can tell but here is the bag I made at sewing.

That will be the bag that I will keep my pins and small stuff in.  Next time I will make a bigger bag that I put that bag in and my projects.  So thats it pretty much.

Babysitting class + sewing

A couple of weeks ago my friend Rossi asked if she wanted to do a babysitting class with me.  We got to learn how to baby sit.  I though I would give it a whirl.  So yesterday, Monday, was the first time.  It was for two hours and after a little while I felt like I was at school with just girls in my class.  After class Rossi had a quick Orthodontist appointment that wouldn't take long just a fast switch braces thing.  So I waited in the check in office.  Luckily they had video games that didn't cost anything that I could play.  I guess they have her floss on her own because she wanted to show me how straight her teeth were.  Then she asked if I wanted to see them put on the part that holds the braces still and I said yes.  I helped her pick out the color and watched them put it in.  Ya braces don't look that fun.  After her thing we went to Jimmy Johns and I got a lettuce rap.  About 2 hours later I was going to start my first sewing class ever.  My dads friend does it in her basement and is a good teacher.  She pretty much knows every one in Uintah (my school)  because they have taking it.  They were 5 people in my class counting me so good size!  Anyway I learned how to make a small bag and how to iron!!  Today was my last class and they had some police men come in and talk.  Well I graduated the class and I need some practice before I do people in my ward and stuff.  That's it!  Bye!

Summer!

Summer is the best time of year for kids.  Not so much for adults.  We have already kicked off with a great first month.  I have been swimming a lot, two weddings, eating healthy, going to Lagoon, birthdays, and more.  There is still more stuff.  Paige will be here soon and Grandma and Grandpa are taking me with her to Lagoon!  I still don't know who my teacher will be.  I'm hoping for a guy named Mr. Hoff.  He is really good.  Still two more months left of Summer!  Yay!!!!!!!!!!

10 dives 10 times

Yesterday we went swimming with the Gee's.  Ali and Niki had on life jackets so that was good.  It was 90 degrees.  Ali and Niki can swim but they can't really stay up when there not touching.  So we went to where Niki could touch and I showed them how to do it.  I said you flap you arms like you have wings and you kind of kick.  They kind of could do it.  They left on there life jackets though.  Niki and I where doing tricks of the diving board like closing your eyes or spinning running and cannonball.  Ali was really scared.  Every time she went off she held up the line and looked down to scared to jump and kept telling me to watch underwater just in case her jacket fell off.    She was so scared that it was 12 feet deep and every time she said 12 feet deep I would say Look I can touch it and swam down to the bottom.  Anyway she did it 10 times and made me watch her everytime just in case.  After 10 she was happy and didn't ever do it again.  She said she did 10 dives wich I thought was pretty funny!  Well, thats it for today.  My dad is in Atlanta from Sunday till tommorow Wensday.  Adam will be so happy!  Every time we open the door to take something out like the garbage he thinks it dad.  Poor Boy! 

Hello swimming

Its really nice to go swimming again.  I got a new swim dress and a hat as you can see in the picture.  The swimsuit on Adam was a little to big so we are using his old suit and saving the one in the picture next year.  I for sure missed swimming!!

Scary Field day

Today was Field day and tomorrow is the last day of school and I am really sad.  Anyway my mom was one of the people incharged of it.  They had a 30 foot bouncy slide.  It was way cool!  The special needs were on it when the gas in the generator was out or something like that.  Anyway it tipped over when they where in it.  They really could have died!  There were 6TH graders up there telling rules so they could grab then really fast and get down as fast as they could.  The special needs teacher tried to hold it up while kids got down.  It was just fine after they got more gas.  Every one was ok witch was good!  Thats it!  Just one more year of Elementary school left!!

D.A.R.E to read this?

Today we had our D.A.R.E graduation.  Well, now we do a thing called N.O.V.A.  We don't focus as much about drugs and that stuff.  Anyway parents got to come and the N.O.V.A teacher, Officer Garcia, talked about how much fun and loved us then the principle and sheriff talked.  To graduate we had to write an essay that was 25 sentences.  Piece of cake.  One person from each class got to go up and share their report.  She said that their was so many good reports that she chose two people for two classes.  Well me and another girl from my class one the best report thing.  I was really surprised!  I got to read mine first than listen to the rest of them.  Then she gave us a McDonnalds card for ice cream, some M&m's, and a giant pixie stix.  Then she gave everyone a free pass for get air and there certificate and then we left.  My mom took me home early with Adam.  I was really surprised that I got to read mine because I know way better writers! 

Super Saterday

Today was a really fun day.  We started having a normal Sat. morning and about 12ish Scott and Katie came over to play Beatles Rockband.  They were in Utah because Scott graduated and they came to Utah for a couple of days.  During Rockband Grandpa and Grandpa Smith were at McKenna and Payton's Olympics and practice.  After the game and practice was over we all went to Pizzeria the best pizza place in UT!  Everyone but my family went to Kristin's house while my family just did our normal Sat. thing.  About 2 hours (or less) we all went to Grandma and Grandpa churches house.  (Not Adam or my day) Payton and McKenna really wanted to go to the park so bad so I took them there for about an hour.  Kristin called us back and they left.  I just chatted with the grown ups intill they started to play cards.  My mom and I went to Rox Berry a smoothie place to get our family some smoothies for a little dinner after a big lunch.  It was fun!  Happy Mothers day Tomorrow!!

So long 5th Grade

I noticed today that it is already May 7TH!  That is so weird to me to even think that.  I remember the first day of school like it was last week.  I even remember what my friend and teacher were wearing.  Me also.  Only 15 days intil school is out but more like 14 days since it is the very end of the day.  You also think that Summer is almost over even though it hasn't started, but hey, it goes by fast!!  I am a little sad to leave 5TH grade and I'm also a little happy.  I will go to 6TH grade next year and then Junior High!! 

We are the champions......

For the walkathon if we earned enough money we got to through pies at our principles head!!  Right before the walkathon Mr. K (the principle's initial) said that we did not reach our goal and that he was going to eat the pies in front of us.  He said that we earned $9,999.99 for our walkathon.  About 10 seconds later he said that we really earned 14,000!!!!  The walkathon was good!  I came home with my dad in the hospital.  The next week we had an Assembly for who one and got to go to elite gymnastics!!  My class one last year because on kid always brings in a ton of money!  This kid is in our class again this year.  Anyway we earned an Ice Cream party, Pizza Party, and a hour of resses!  Only two classes got the resses by the way.  Mrs. Greaves (mine) and Mrs. Porter (the teacher I wanted if I didn't get Mrs.Greaves)  then it was just two classes left.  I just new we would have a fight for who ever one.  Then they said we had a tie this year.  We all look curious.  WHAT????  Yep we both won.We will be going the same day (lots of injury's) but at least we didn't have to go with Kindergartens!!  I am glad that I won again this year and hope to win next year to

Chimpanzees

We had a field trip today and we went to the New Gate mall.  If your planning on going to see it I bet you would like it.  You might cry on some parts (not saying that I did).  It is a little scary but not as scarry as Wild Cats was last year.  There are also grose parts that make you want to gag but I think that you might actullay like it.  Kids would think it is funny and cute.  So if your planning to got to a movie that is a good choice.  If your not a animal lover (like me) you will still might think it is interesting.  I hate thoes kind of movies and I though it was good.  Anyway thats it.

Spirit week

This week was spirit week for the walk a thon this year.  Monday was Crazy Socks day, Tuesday was Hat day, Wensday was PJ day, Thursday was crazy hair day, and Friday was Uintah shirt and Tennis shoe day.  My mom will put pics. on her blog one day.  Thats it!!

Easter Weekend

Hi!! Well, the week for Spring Break was kinda boring but, the weekend was really fun!! On Saterday every one went Easter egg Hunting but me (that counts Adam too) cuse I feel like I'm a little to old and I wanted to stay home and get cute for 2:00. Jhon and Kristy flew in from England and Sue wanted everyone to meet for a meal. So we were gonna go to Chuckarama but we new it would be packed so we went to Golden Cerow instead! (Hope you now what that says!) It was really fun and Kristy wannted me to tell everyone that she was the loundest. It was really fun. Well after my mom said I could go boaling with the rest of our family. ( just our family not Sue's) but we changed in plan and the Ali and Niki really wanted to go to Payton and McKenna's house but Gma Gpa and me didn't really want to go so they still took me boaling at Fat Cat's! Grandpa was somewhere in the really early hundreds and I was in the 90's and gma was somewhere in the 60's. They took me back and we played a couple of games of Dominoes with my dad and mom too.

On Sunday was Easter as you all probally know. So we looked at what the Bunny gave us and I got some flip flop slippers, a unbrella, fake nails, and lots of Candy! We had 1:00 church (BOO!!!!) and when we came right back we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner. We jumped on the tramp and Krissy came out once to bounce us and I also played some computer games with the kids. For dessert we had popcicules outside and it was a great day outside. After that we left and we had to get ready for school the next day. This weekend was Super awesome!!!!

CrAzY!

Today I was looking at the Calendar and I realized it is April then I thought that May is the next month and its almost my Birthday and School is almost out!!!! I didn't think it would be so fast like that. It feels like it was just barley May and I got my new room and I went boiling and ate 5 doughnuts! I so weird. And that summer is almost here. It feels like the Smiths were here and I was swimming not very long ago. And it also feels like it was just August and I started school. I really remember when Mrs. Greaves was telling us where the rulers, scissors, tape, pencils, etc. went. I also remember asking McKenna if her first grade teacher was pretty and she said no. That still makes me laugh! Anyway...... its just so weird to think about that! Don't you think?

I know

OK, to start with you might be thinking why the heck am I blogging when I got my tonsils out last Friday. Well, I'm doing actually pretty good! I have not barfed once I am eating solids food since Friday the same day I got them out, my throat is not killing me is just plain sore, and I haven't really cried. So I'm doing really good! I am not too much thrilled to talk because if I talk to much then yes I will start getting really bad and I sound really weird and can't pronounce right. Well that's all I guess. The fifth grade program was great and nothing went wrong and everyone loved it. So ya....... Bye!

Yes!!!

Today was the day for the program that I got to get into my dress. The song right before is 2 minutes long and there is 1 minute of other kids talking so I had 3 minutes to get into my southern belle dress. I made it by 2 seconds! The unchanging the song was fifty nifty and it was at the very last ................ fifty nifty stars in the flag........... So I jammed on my shoes and socks and ran for the stage!!! I made it! I hope for the program I make it cause if I don't that will not be fun.

NO SCHOOL

If you think that it is weird that I am on right now on a Friday at 10:00 a.m. Well, here is why. There is no school because it's the end of the third quarter. I can't believe that school is going to be over in 3 months. That's so crazy! Anyway on Tuesday is my moms surgery and I will be going to a field trip to Bonivile High school. We will be seeing a play and I'm not to happy what the play is. High School Musical #1. I was just thinking that at least we will know what will be happening. Last year we saw Hello Dolly and we didn't really know what it was about or what was happening. On the 28TH we are going to the Old Folks House right next to us and do our America Program. Then on the 29TH we will do a dress rehearsal for the school and do our program good for the parents that night. I can't wait for the program! It is going to be so awesome. All of the boys half to dress up like sailors and pretend that they are with Columbus and all of the girls have to dress up like Indians and sing the Colors Of the Wind. We have lots of people talking and people dressing up like our Founding Fathers, Southern Belles (that is what I am) and sing fun songs like Fifty Nifty. For colors of the wind there is also a dance to it. The hardest part is the pivot. I can do one but not when your hands are in the air. The next day I have to get my tonsils out. It will be a Friday and the next day is General Conference and then Spring Break that week. So I don't have to worry about a ton of school work! And the last thing is that there is a 7 11 that just opened up by my house!!!!!!! Ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday

Friday was soooooooooooooo fun!!! We got to go to the state capital. Utah's capital is one of the best Capitols in the U.S! We watched a movie there on how it was built and stuff. They remodeled it it 2004 and it was open again in 2008. The walls are made of marble!! Its also learned that it is earthquake proof. Underground it has these things that hold up the capitol and under the things is another thing that looks like a sliced piece of pie and when there is a earthquake it sways 24 in. on each side!! The guide let us peek in the house of representatives and the other place I don't remember. She let us go in one that no one was using it at the time. It is so cool!! 2 news was going on right then and I past the camera! I love Utah's capital! It is so awesome. That's all!!

My part!!

Today we got our parts for the 5th grade America program. I did not get a singing part (kinda yay!) but they gave it to people that were not the best. The best person they have is my friend Kylee and she is better than me! Anyway I got a speeking part! I am a Southern Belle and I have to say........

The Confederacy was gone, and with it, slavery. Lincoln traveled to Gettysburg to honor the soldiers who had died.

Pretty easy huh? I have a about a month to memorize it so I will get it! My mom already has it memorized and she only read it like five times!!!

Busy March

Ok, to start with I am not the best at coming up with titles. So I guess you know that March will be very busy for me and my grade. We have matcheration on the first (yikes!) we are going to the Capitol on the second, (I have heard that it is super awsome and there is a place made out of marbles) I'm going to a Bonivile play one day and I have a lot of other fun feild trips (but not the learning kind witch is pretty much all of them!) and my fifth grade America program! I am so excited for it! We sing lots of songs and we have talking parts, singing parts, dancing parts, and jsut parts! I did try out for the solo and I did get to the next stage for the solos so I am kinda wishing and kinda not that I will get it! So it will be a busy month for me/fifthgrade! I am excited!!

Cookie Party

Yesterday my class had a cookie party. So people got to bring cookies. Mrs. Greaves ( my teacher) said not to bring 30 cookies beacuse 30x27 is a lot. So ya. I broght my moms famous chocolate chip cookies. I only brought ten and they ran out pretty fast. I told Mrs. Greaves that they have four sticks of butter in them and she said that she has to try them. A lot of people forgot about the cookie party and bought cookies for no reason. It was fun intill I ate the worst homeade cookie in my life! It was so bad! I finished it though. I didn't really feel like eating the oreo I had left. A lot of people loved my cookies. They wanted more. Rossi was bummed that she didn't get one of my moms cookies. She LOVES them!

Illinois was the 21ST
state to join the Union on December 3RD 1818, but that’s not where
the story begins! In 1673 French explorers built a fort and cities in the
area. About 50 years later the French
settlers and British colonists got in a big fight over the land. The Indian people fought with the French but
they still lost. This was called the
French and Indian war. After the
Revolutionary War, all the land became part of the U.S.A. At that time, Illinois was part of the
Northwest Territory until it became a state.
That’s how and when it became a state but we are just beginning!


The biggest city in Illinois is Chicago. Chicago was an important city for the country
because it’s right next to Lake Michigan and people could ship things there
easily. The city grew very quickly and
lots of factories opened. A lot of
people came to get jobs. In 1871 a HUGE
fire burned almost half of the city.
Most people think that it was started by Mrs. O’Leary’s cow kicking over
a lantern. Because almost everything was
made out of wood, it burned for almost two days and thousands of homes and
buildings were destroyed. Stupid Cow!! More than 250 people died! When they rebuilt the city they made
buildings safer by using steel. They
built the first skyscraper in the world.
Today there are many skyscrapers in Chicago including the tallest
building in America. The Sears Tower which is now called the Willis Tower has
110 stories and is about 1,482.6 feet tall.
More than 3,000,000 people live in Chicago today.
There are other cool places in Illinois as
well. The capital is Springfield. Springfield is pretty much in the middle of
the state. Other cities are Peoria,
Rockford, and Nauvoo. Nauvoo was made
by Mormons in 1839. More than 20,000
Mormons came to live there. Soon the
people of Illinois didn’t like them. Their
leader Joseph Smith was put in jail and killed.
He is buried in Nauvoo. In 1846
the Mormons were forced to leave their city and moved to Salt Lake City,
UT.
Illinois can be very humid, so
it’s blazing hot in the summer and wet, icy, and really cold in the
winter. Their snow is soggy and
wet. That’s why they are not the best
place to go sledding or skiing. In
winter the temperature is around 22°
F in the north and 37° F in the south. In
summer the temperatures is about 90 degrees F in the south and 84 degrees F in
the north. In the spring they sometimes
get tornados.
Illinois` nickname is the Prairie
State. Long ago buffalo, wolves, elk,
and bears roamed free! Today most of
these animals are gone. There are still
lots of small animals there like muskrats, groundhogs, beavers, and
rabbits. There are also lots of birds
like pheasant and quail. The Cardinal is
the state bird. There are also many
trees and flowers. The state flower is
the Violet and the tree is the White Oak.
Illinois was one of the first places
to make steel. There are also many
publishing and printing companies.
Chicago is where most of the state’s businesses are and they have a big
stock market. However most of the land
is used for farming.
There are many famous people from
Illinois. Probably the most famous
person who lived there was President Abraham Lincoln. In fact Illinois is often called the Land of Lincoln. He was very famous because he fought the
Civil War to end slavery. Another
President who lived in Illinois (you probably know him) is Barrack Obama. Other famous people are Oprah Winfrey,
Michael Jordan (the basket ball player) Harrison Ford (the actor) and lots of
other musicians, actors, and more.
There are many places to visit in
Illinois. Most of the places are in
Chicago: Lake Michigan, the Shedd
Aquarium, the Field Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, Wrigley Field,
Soldier Field, Navy Pier, and TONS of other places. Chicago is famous for their deep-dish pizza,
Chicago corn, and Chicago dogs! You can
also visit Nature Parks, President Lincoln’s home, and see where he is
buried.
I think Illinois is great! I have been to Chicago and done a lot of cool
stuff there.

It Finnaly Snowed!

Yeah!!! UT actally had snow! And it stuck to the ground! It seems like noboady really had snow this year. Hey Arizona? Did it even get a little cool? I'm happy that I get to wear my ear muffs, gloves, coat, boots, and every thing else. It pretty cold out there right now!

For Halloween we wanted Adam to be a jail guy. It was to big for him but the hat worked! I think that he looks so cute in it. Sorry there isn't a picture of it only a video.

Salsa

Today at school my class made salsa. We made for reading scince the reading book had the recipie in it. Salsa isn't really my favorite. I still can it but not to much. We made fresh salsa scince we didn't have a blender. It was good. I have had much better though, I coudn't really eat is all so I gave it to my neighbor (not the house neighbor) It was chunky and I HATE chuncky. I like dipping. Well just thought I'd share that. What your favorite kind?

Bill Nye 2nd part

Remeber how a couple of weeks ago I said that we were watching Bill Nye the Science Gye for health? Do you also remember how people we gaging and barfing? Well..... for Science Health and Social Studies a diffrent teacher comes in and teaches it. I guese I forgot to menchen before that it was a sub there that day. She was subing for a diffrent teacher and when she came in for Social Studies she spotted the new boy and said are you new or did I miss you that day? And yes he said he was new. And then she said Oh then you not one of the people that TRAMATIZED me a couple weeks ago. We had people switching desks we had people gaging and barfing and the she pointed to a girl named Ashley and said and Ashley I heard that you puked on the bus after school. James the new kid didn't sound to pleased. So ya I just think that is funny and I wouldn't want to be that bus driver or on the bus or the person sitting next to her or be the one cleaning it up. It was crazy!

State Report

This year the fifth grade has to do state reports. I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted Illinois! Lucky for me now one else wanted it so.... I GOT IT!! Should I bring hot dogs? For like Chicago dogs? I have no clue what to bring. I am just very happy that I got it!! Thats it.
